Our Story

Capturing the essence of a beloved country by exposing the wonders it has to offer.

The art of storytelling is shared through the texture, colour and quality of our products. We care about the journey of each item; from our sustainable palm leaf and raffia used to weave the baskets, through to the hand-dyed wool used to create our rugs, every element of our products have been consciously considered.

Handcrafted Artisan

The beauty of owning a Hura is that you can follow the story of your piece from start to finish in the knowledge that love and consideration has been taken not only in the creation of it but also in support of the talented artisans that share their skills to bring the creations to life.

We proudly work directly with local women that reside in small villages surrounding Marrakech to create our basket bags and we work with women from a Berber village high up in the Atlas Mountains to make our rugs. The precious skills they use, have been gifted to them from previous generations, resulting in traditional pieces with a history. If given the due care they deserve, they will become lasting possessions to treasure for many years to come.

Charity

Hura is immensely proud to be supporting a wonderful grass roots charity, Education For All. 5% of all Hura profits will go towards supporting young women in rural communities to safely get access to education.

Very few girls from rural communities in Morocco get the opportunity to continue their education after primary school. To help tackle this, EFA, a Moroccan NGO, is building and running boarding houses near secondary schools, so girls from rural families can continue their education.
